A message from Nicolas Heslop, Leader of TMBC
Dear resident, This week has seen unprecedented measures introduced in response to one of the greatest challenges of our times. Life for millions of people has changed beyond recognition as we battle to slow the spread of coronavirus.
The Government policies introduced in recent days pose a massive test for individual households, for businesses and of course for our public services. At Tonbridge & Malling Borough Council, we are determined to play our part in responding to the emergency and are devoting all our energy to maintaining essential services, supporting our communities and protecting the vulnerable.
While our day-to-day operations have changed and many facilities are closed, we are continuing to deliver core services such as waste collection, housing support and the payment of benefits. Today we have launched a community support helpline (01732 876152) so that essential food supplies are available to those who are socially isolated or in urgent need of help.
During periods of uncertainty, we also recognise the vital importance of sharing the latest information with our residents. Our website and social media channels are being updated on a daily basis with links to NHS guidance and information about how council services are being affected. You can stay informed via our coronavirus update page.
Finally, I must pay tribute to the incredible community spirit that this situation has brought to the fore. It has been humbling to see how the residents of Tonbridge and Malling have responded in these most difficult of times. Supporting one another, watching out for neighbours and sacrificing the personal freedoms we so often take for granted are the only way we will defeat the threat posed by the coronavirus outbreak.
Please continue to follow the guidance issued by the Government. Stay at home, stay safe and together we will overcome this challenge.
